Writing Diary #1: Afterglow

Hey Losers , Andrew here.

I figured this would be a good space to share with all of you how we write the songs we do, and the story behind them (If there is one) I wanted to start with Afterglow, which is the first song off our EP "Saying Goodbye", and the first full original by Loser Parade.

Afterglow is a song that was a labor of....labor. While it isn't the most complicated song, previous to that I had gigantic writers block. Everything I wrote I either thought wasn't good enough, or just never finished. This caused me to go 8+ years without actually writing anything new. One day, I was sitting in my office chair in my room, listening to Dookie era Green Day and thought to myself "Fuck it, i'm gonna write a song" I needed to write. I forced myself to write. I didn't care if it was good or not, I just told myself 'You are gonna write a song today'

Having not written in so long, I just told myself make it sound like a Green Day song, and so I kinda did. About 15 minutes later the main base of the song was done. I didn't add onto it for a long time, till I decided to start the band Loser Parade. I brought it to my band mates and the song is what you hear us playing now. While the song is a bit repetitive, and honestly simple it is what broke the seal for the songs you listen to today.
